The ATO Online Terms and Conditions are changing from 1 June 2019. The most important changes are:
o Your clients will have an option to give you written authorisation to receive some or all of their communications from us via your Practice inbox. We will still send digital communications that you are not authorised to receive to your clients' myGov inboxes. This is in preparation for a new feature of Online services for agents we are currently testing in private beta.
o If your clients use secret questions and answers to confirm their identity and access ATO Online through myGov, they should use myGov security codes or the myGov access app to improve their security.
o From 1 June 2019, your clients will need to use myGov security codes or the myGov access app to confirm their identity if they want their myGov account linked to the ATO. If your clients choose to downgrade the way they confirm their identity to secret questions and answers, their myGov account will automatically be unlinked from the ATO.
All myGov users will be notified of the updated Terms and Conditions. If your clients:
o do not to accept the Terms and Conditions, they will need to unlink the ATO from their myGov account by 1 June 2019
o do nothing and don't unlink from the ATO, it will be deemed that they have accepted the new Terms and Conditions.
If your clients choose to unlink the ATO from their myGov account, we suggest they download a copy of their communications beforehand, as they will not be able to do this after they have unlinked.
You will still be able to receive your clients'digital communications via your Practice inbox if your clients have authorised this. You can see it in the Client communication list in the portal, or in Communication history in Online services for agents.
